While a Potel Volnay Santenots was chewy and drying (perhaps caught by me at an inopportune moment?), a 2006 Volnay Clos des Chenes ? employing 100% vendange entier ? manages to avoid the austerity that is the lot of so many wines from this site in this vintage. A prickly sense of ginger and Szechuan pepper accents the concentration of tart black fruits, with smoky black tea, peat, and chalk notes as well as a saline beef bouillon undertone adding depth and intrigue. This displays cut and grip, and while it is certainly more formidable than winsome, I suspect it will be worth following for at least 4-5 years, and will probably be best revisited in 2011. |

| Mosses growing on old tree stumps come to mind in the nose of a 2006 Beaune
Greves from centenarian vines on Nicolas Potel's future domaine, a wine
which offers a dense palate impression adding to moss and humus tart blackberry,
toasted nuts and crushed stone. While this is adamantly mineral, its fruit
is sweeter and its texture more tender than that encountered in most of
the Potel 2006 Cote de Beaune offerings. There is a lot of depth and mystery
in the long finish here, and I expect this to be worth following for 6-8
years. Unlike their Volnay counterparts, the Beaune premier crus here this
year were all destemmed |

| 輸入元のセールスさんが一押しでしたので仕入れてみました。 価格も手頃でしたし、たまにはボーヌのルージュも新鮮な感じで良いかと。。。 試飲してビックリ！ 良い造りです。 赤系果実の熟した香りに、ちょっとスパイス系の香りがアクセントになってリッチな雰囲気です。 口に含むと、ボリュームもあり納得の味わいが広がります。 ただ、今飲むには少し早いですね。 2-3日後のほうが美味しく頂けました。 でもこのワインは当りですよ |
